Chief Editor, Haitian Globe
Wakimg Exumé is the Chief Editor of Haitian Globe, where he directs the newsroom, oversees content production, and manages a dedicated team committed to delivering credible journalism across Haiti and the diaspora. With nearly three decades of experience in media, he has built a career marked by leadership, resilience, and a lifelong passion for storytelling.
His passion for journalism emerged early in Mirebalais, Haiti, where, as a teenager, he co-founded Radio Shack (Radyo Truck) with Ing. Guerlentz Cesar, now the founder of GC Computer and owner of Radio TéléBoston. In 1994, Wakimg formalized his media training by studying journalism and video and cinematography production at Wilek Film, equipping himself with the professional skills to complement his innate drive.
In 1995, he began his professional career as a junior correspondent for Magik Stéréo, reporting from Mirebalais and covering the Plateau Central region. Within three months, he was promoted to reporter at the Port-au-Prince headquarters. By 1996, following a major restructuring, he was appointed to the newsroom coordination council, and about a year later, he became the Newsroom Director—a role he held until 2004 when political and security pressures forced him to leave Haiti.
During those years, Wakimg also served as an on-call contributor and correspondent for Voice of America and worked as a correspondent for Radio Concord in Boston, broadening his international media experience.
After relocating to the United States in 2004, he joined WHTY, Radio Vision Nouvelle, where he worked as a news anchor, newsroom leader, and political commentator from February 2005 through December 2023. In March 2024, he transitioned to Radio Caribbean as a news anchor, where he was later offered a managerial role; however, financial limitations at the station prevented it from materializing.
In addition to his journalism career, Wakimg is a trained mental health professional. He worked as a therapist from 2015 to 2022, providing support to children and families from diverse backgrounds. He passed the state licensure exam in 2023 and is currently awaiting full licensure. His academic background includes a Master's degree in Mental Health and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, which complements his work in community mentorship and youth programs.
Now at the helm of Haitian Globe, Wakimg Exumé draws on his extensive experience in media and mental health to lead with clarity, integrity, and a commitment to community impact—bridging rigorous journalism with a profound understanding of human stories. Wakimg is proud to join Dr. Hans Patrick Domercant, the visionary founder behind Haitian Globe, to help carry this vision forward and expand the platform's global reach and impact.
Haitian Globe is powered by a dedicated team of journalists, editors, and content creators who are passionate about serving the Haitian community. Our multilingual team ensures that our content reaches audiences in Kreyòl, French, and English.
