The French government has delayed debate on a controversial bill (loi Yadan) to define "new forms" of antisemitism following opposition from left-wing MPs, some lawyers, academics and rights groups. Critics say that a provision criminalising calls for the destruction of a state could silence criticism of Israel. Law professor François Dubuisson argues new legislation is simply not necessary.
