French PM to meet opposition ahead of confidence vote

French Prime Minister François Bayrou will meet with the heads of political parties and parliamentary groups ahead of the confidence vote he called for 8 September, he said in a televised interview in which he insisted on the need to agree on “the importance of the effort” to reduce the debt, before any discussions of the details.
