Bastille Day firefighters' balls in Paris and the surrounding suburbs have been cancelled owing to record-high temperatures affecting the capital and most of France, as emergency workers remain on alert. Celebrations begin on Monday, with Paris having brought forward its annual fireworks display by a day to avoid clashing with commemorations marking the 10th anniversary of the Nice attack of 14 July 2016.
