When Ali Akbar began pounding the pavement of Paris's Left Bank in 1973 he was one of around 40 newspaper hawkers. Now the 73-year-old, originally from Pakistan, is the last of his kind. He's become something of a local hero and President Emmanuel Macron, a former customer, has awarded him the Legion d'Honneur for services to France.
