Haiti on the Rise: Prime Minister, Diplomats, and Global Leaders Unite at Discover Haiti in Boston

BOSTON, MA — June 12, 2026 — In a powerful celebration of Haitian culture, diplomacy, economic opportunity, and community pride, hundreds gathered yesterday in downtown Boston for DISCOVER HAITI, a landmark cultural and economic showcase hosted by the U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the City of Boston, and the Consulate General of Haiti in Boston.

Held at 26 Court Street in Boston, the event transformed the heart of the city into a vibrant display of Haitian excellence during FIFA World Cup season, as Haiti prepares for its historic return to the FIFA World Cup after 52 years.

Distinguished Haitian & International Delegation

The event brought together an extraordinary delegation of Haitian and international dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of Haiti, His Excellency Alix Didier Fils-Aimé; Haitian Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Lionel Delatour; Haiti’s Foreign Minister, Madame Raina Forbin; Consul General of Haiti in Boston, Regine Etienne; Haitian government officials; international diplomats and consular representatives from Mexico, Brazil, Taipei, and several other nations; members of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation; funders, philanthropic leaders, and friends of Haiti from organizations including the Clinton Global Initiative; elected officials, nonprofit leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, and community advocates.

The event served as both a cultural celebration and an economic platform designed to change the narrative surrounding Haiti by highlighting the nation’s resilience, innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, tourism potential, and global contributions.

A Vision Beyond the Headlines

Opening the program, Dr. Hans Patrick Domercant, President & CEO of the U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce, delivered passionate remarks emphasizing the importance of telling Haiti’s full story.

“Haiti’s story is much bigger than the headlines we often see in the media. Haiti is a country rich with talent, resilience, creativity, culture, entrepreneurship, and innovation. DISCOVER HAITI is about changing the narrative, building bridges, and showing the world the beauty, brilliance, and strength of the Haitian people.”

Dr. Domercant also highlighted the importance of the Haitian diaspora and the role of economic empowerment in strengthening communities both in Haiti and throughout the United States.

Prime Minister Calls for “Trade, Not Aid”

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé praised the Haitian diaspora for its continued dedication to Haiti and commended the organizers for creating a platform centered on unity, opportunity, and national pride.

“Haiti needs trade, not aid.”

The Prime Minister called for stronger economic collaboration, entrepreneurship, investment, and long-term partnerships that empower Haitian businesses and communities.

Culture, Music & Powerful Performances

The event featured dynamic performances and artistic presentations throughout the afternoon, including a vibrant cultural performance by KS Dance, a powerful musical performance by renowned Haitian artist BIC, a memorable performance by Berthelot Jeremie, remarks by Miss Universe Haiti Melissa Sapini, and a moving poetic summary by Charlot Lucien.

Interactive Experiences & Haitian Heritage

Attendees explored exhibits and presentations celebrating Haitian history, food, music, cinema, tourism, sports, entrepreneurship, and the arts. Educational displays highlighted Haitian heroes including Toussaint Louverture, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, and Catherine Flon, while cultural installations showcased iconic landmarks such as the Citadelle Laferrière.

One of the highlights of the event was an interactive Haiti trivia game, where attendees tested their knowledge about Haitian history, culture, geography, and achievements for an opportunity to win prizes.

Building a New Narrative for Haiti

A central theme throughout the event was the importance of reshaping international perceptions of Haiti during this historic World Cup season. Organizers emphasized that Haiti’s return to the global soccer stage represents more than sports — it symbolizes resilience, national pride, and hope for a new generation.

DISCOVER HAITI showcased Haitian-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, creatives, and organizations while creating opportunities for networking, investment discussions, and cross-cultural engagement.

Leadership & Community Collaboration

The event demonstrated the growing influence and organizational leadership of the U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce under Dr. Domercant’s leadership.

The Chamber’s leadership team and volunteers played a major role in the success of the event, including Emmanuela Romain-Amedee, Board Secretary; Emmanuel Jean, Chapters National Liaison; Stanley David, Membership Director; Mardochee Thales, Outreach Coordinator; and additional Chamber staff, volunteers, and community partners.

Closing Remarks Highlight Unity & Opportunity

The program concluded with remarks from James R. Colimon and Jean Julien, who emphasized the importance of unity, collaboration, and continued investment in Haitian communities and institutions.

As attendees departed, one message remained clear: DISCOVER HAITI was not simply an event — it was a declaration that Haiti’s voice, culture, talent, and people continue to rise on the world stage.
