The U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce continues to expand its international engagement efforts with a high-level exploratory meeting held with Angie Bell, Mayor of Cap-Haïtien, Haiti. The meeting focused on identifying new pathways to strengthen trade, investment, and economic collaboration between Haiti and the United States.
This strategic dialogue comes at a critical moment for regional connectivity and economic development, particularly following the recent launch of direct flights between Boston and Cap-Haïtien by Sunrise Airways. The new route is expected to play a key role in facilitating business travel, increasing tourism, and accelerating cross-border commercial activity between the Haitian diaspora and the northern region of Haiti.
Representing the Chamber during this important engagement were Dr. Hans Patrick Domercant, President and CEO; Stanley David, Membership Director; and Emmanuel Jean, North Shore Regional Director and National Chamber Chapters Liaison.
According to the Chamber, the meeting was both productive and forward-looking, with discussions centered on positioning Cap-Haïtien as a growing hub for trade, tourism, and investment. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to creating opportunities that empower local entrepreneurs, attract international partners, and drive sustainable economic growth.
The U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce emphasized the importance of aligning diaspora resources with local leadership to unlock Haiti’s economic potential—particularly in regions like Cap-Haïtien, which continues to emerge as a key destination for development and innovation.
As global attention increasingly turns toward Haiti’s economic future, initiatives like this signal a renewed effort to build meaningful partnerships and elevate Haiti’s presence on the international stage.
