CAP-HAÏTIEN — Sunday evenings are no longer mainly about eating ice cream or playing in the park for some children in Cap-Haïtien, as they used to be in the past. Instead, it has become much more exciting and lively. Go-kart racing, arcade games, virtual reality experiences and amusement rides now define what some Cap-Haïtien children do on Sunday evenings.
Magic City Fun Park has raised the bar for “children’s fun.” Situated on Street 28 along The Boulevard, this small indoor amusement park opened in 2023. It welcomes visitors every day, with Sundays being the busiest, when many parents bring their children.
Adults also visit Magic City Fun Park to go on dates and hang out with friends. On Sunday, Sept. 7, the place was packed with visitors. They pressed against each other to walk to the games and rides. Before sunset, children raced in go-karts on a narrow road in front of the amusement park. Meanwhile, other visitors played racing arcade games and virtual reality shooting games, and more.
Children smiled while riding the slow amusement rides, laughed as they ran into each other in the bumper cars and motorcycles. However, it was not all about laughs and smiles; visitors’ faces squeezed with fear when they spun on one of the rides and played scary virtual reality games.
