PORT-AU-PRINCE — The Brasserie Nationale d’Haïti, commercially known as BRANA, has won three Gold Medals at the 2026 edition of the international competition organized by the Monde Selection International Quality Institute.

The prizes were awarded to Prestige beer, Malta H and Kinanm, highlighting the Haitian company’s ability to meet international production and quality standards, BRANA said in a statement issued March 4. The Haitian brewery said the distinction reflects the consistency of its production standards and the rigor of its industrial processes.

“Beyond the awarded brands, these distinctions primarily reflect BRANA’s overall performance, driven by a culture of high standards, compliance and continuous improvement,” the company said.

The awards recognize the quality of beverages produced in Haiti, including beers and non-alcoholic drinks. The recognition highlights not only BRANA’s achievements but also Haiti’s presence on the international stage at a time of heightened tensions in the country.

The medals were granted after an evaluation conducted by an international panel at the Monde Selection International Quality Institute that includes scientists, food engineers, sommeliers and chefs. The three products were assessed based on external quality control systems, product reliability, production methods and the company’s commitments.

The Monde Selection International Quality Institute is based in Brussels, Belgium, and specializes in evaluating the quality of consumer products. Monde Selection awards quality labels — including Bronze, Silver and Gold medals — which serve as benchmarks for companies seeking to demonstrate product quality and compliance in international markets.

The recognition places Haitian-made beverages among products honored in the international competition, which has been held annually since 1961.

“This triple award confirms BRANA’s ability to ensure that products across its entire portfolio meet the highest international standards,” the brewery’s management said, adding that the company aims to “remain faithful to the expectations of Haitian consumers.”

For BRANA, the 2026 results also mark an improvement over its most recent appearance in the contest.

In 2024, the Kinanm brand received a Gold Medal, while the flagship beer Prestige and the malt drink Malta H each earned Silver Medals.

Kinanm received an excellence score between 80% and 89%, securing Gold. Prestige and Malta H recorded scores between 70% and 79%, which earned them Silver.

The official Monde Selection site has not yet published the full list of results for 2026. But BRANA’s announcement highlights the country’s company’s return to the top tier of the international competition.

“BRANA applauds the dedication and professionalism of all its employees,” the company added. “Their daily work helps showcase the brewery’s excellence far beyond national borders.”
